Earlier this month, we launched our charity appeal across Connect Plus Services. The response has been phenomenal, in true CPS style.
As Cliff Richard so famously sang in the late 1980s, Christmas is a time for giving, and we thought that was a great sentiment to start the Christmas cheer.
Earlier in the year, we matched a donation made to Evelina Hospital by colleagues from our Swanley depot in Kent. Evelina has a mission to try and make Christmas as fun, special and exciting as possible for the children under its care.
This year, CPS supported Evelina’s Christmas Wish campaign, to help ensure that every child spending Christmas in hospital has an extra surprise to open on Christmas Day.
Yesterday, Gary and Kelly visited the hospital to deliver the incredible array of gifts donated by colleagues, ready to be delivered by Santa on Christmas morning.
Gary, whose youngest sons were treated by staff at Evelina, said “I am overwhelmed by the generosity of people at CPS. There will be plenty of smiles this week because of everything they have given.”

Staff also gave generously at last Friday’s CPS Christmas party, during the “money in an envelope” part of the evening. Party-goers that wish to join in put an agreed sum of money into an envelope and a winning envelope is drawn, at random: the owner of the envelope wins the money “pot”.
This year, the “pot” was split, with 50% of the prize fund awarded to the winner and 50% donated to Evelina.
A raffle held today at our South Mimms offices saw further money raised for this incredible hospital, with a final donation of £516.
We’ve added this to the £1,000 donated by the business. What an incredible total!
The Trussell Trust is a nationwide charity that seeks to end hunger and poverty in the UK.
This Christmas, CPS has also collected foodstuffs that will help support this aim and today (Tuesday), our Christmas hampers were dropped off to foodbanks local to our Kent and Hertfordshire offices.
We’ll be sharing the pictures via our Twitter feed shortly.
We also joined in with Text Santa’s Christmas Jumper Day last Friday, when staff donned their snazzy knits, all in a good cause.
Pictures from across our M25 locations are available via Twitter, along with some inspired attempts to #KnitAMovie.
Everyone agrees we had a woolly good day!
To our colleagues, our customers, to everyone… we wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
